About the artists

TVP

b. 1951. Tony is the trained fine artist in the family, attending York University in Toronto in the 1970s. Since those days, Poppa, as he is affectionately called by his granddaughter, left the art world and became a furniture designer and manufacturer. Here we celebrate his early works along with his return to the canvas, a mere 40-some odd years later. Bravo!

Syl

b. 1977. I’m Tony’s daughter, and I didn’t really think of myself as an artist but when I moved to New York, I decided to paint my dog one evening and a fire was lit. I simply enjoy painting and have found that sometimes, other people have enjoyed it too. I have donated custom paintings of people’s dogs as a way to help raise money for Airedale Terrier Rescue groups. Working from a picture you give me, I continue to invite commissions.

Introducing Viv

b. 2019. My vibrant daughter has been finding expression since she was just barely walking (not long ago!). Her work is displayed strictly as an appreciation for what a child is capable of expressing through art. A keen eye for colour and a certain flare with the paintbrush bring a lot of energy to her work. It is uninhibited and wonderful.

Grandma Catherine

b. 1915. My paternal grandmother was born in Amsterdam, Holland and emigrated to Canada just after the war with my grandfather to raise a family of 4 in Chatham, Ontario. She always advised me to “keep your hands busy.” She was prolific with her loom, her kitchen, her piano and of course, her painting.
